Phavorite Photography Websites Needed
Jan. 25th, 2006 03:51 pm
An older picture today because I learned the flickr's free account come with a 200 image limit. All images over that 200 limit still exist, you just can't see them on flickr. If you have the URL for the page they display on (i.e. you have image files linked to web pages and/or blogs) they'll still exist. If you don't you have no access to them unless (a) you delete other images or (b) buy a Pro account for $25/year (USD).
Anyways
I have a favor to ask you all. Our daughter called the other night to tell us she's gotten her first NYC exhibition of her photography sometime in either late April/early May. (It's coincides with the new CD release for Pal Shazar -- Seren did the cover photograph and other photography that's now available on Pal's website) We're both excited for her and plan on going up to see the opening night and have a fun, if brief, stay in NYC. (Hopefully I'll be able to meet up with some LJ'ers while we're there.

Suddenly Seren needs a website for her photography as a way of generating additional interest in her work for NYC gallery owners, some of whom have already asked her for a URL. Seren knows nothing about building websites and I know enough to know that (a) I need to learn a heckuva lot more than I already do but (b) I can build one for her.
The problem is one of design and that's where you come in. We need to see some of the best designs for photography and photographer-based website out there. If those of you reading this would please leave comments with the URLs of some of your favorite photography website designs -- and what you like about them -- I'd really appreciate it.
If you have your own websites, listing those, along with why you chose the design you did and/or what you'd like changed with your site's design and why would be appreciated, too.
As would photography websites that you think are just plain awful (any why).
Of course, when Seren's is done and is online I'll happily post the URL for everyone here to see what she settled on (and why).
Oh -- and Flash sites or HTML and why (she's afraid of her images being downloaded from the site)
And to watermark your images or to not watermark and why.
And anything else I've forgotten!
THANKS!
