Happy Birthday, Gareth!

So, when you can't go for the truly artistic to say Thanks and Happy Birthday to someone, I tend to be of the opinion that you should just go for the all-but wildly insane.

Back in March, Gareth posted five wonderful images of cats in honor of my birthday. When I learned his birthday was today I knew I wanted to do something in return. Only I haven't been doing much in the way of photography lately, so other than more pictures of our cats, I didn't have much to work with.

Unless I wanted to go for the totally absurd.

This photograph is, however, also an example of why I try to carry my trusty CoolPix with me just about everywhere I go. Even when I'm not taking lots of pictures there are still those moments, those fleeting instances where not having my camera available has almost been painful in what I've missed.

Now, granted, from a completely artistic viewpoint this was not one of those moments. Still, it did stop me dead in my tracks when I saw it. And I was glad I had my camera at hand.

So, in honor of a fine friend across the pond and a truly inspiring photographer, here's an image for you, G.
