Three Bits o' Gratitude:

1. Request for Full
Out of the 20+ queries I've sent out for The Book I've received nothing but rejections or silence. Finally, today, someone said they liked the sample they read and would like to see the full manuscript.

I'd love to get excited about this, but I've done this several times in the past. I'm very happy The Book has finally attracted some attention, but until I have a signed contract for representation, I'll hold off on the champagne. And scotch.

2. Another Rewrite
Another writer friend of mine told a published author friend of hers about The Book. Published author thought it might be something her agent might like and agreed to read the first few chapters. She did and sent me some really good advice about those chapters. All of which I need to put into place before sending off the full manuscript to that agent I just mentioned in #1. (Much less Published Author's agent)

3. The Sudden Turning of the Planet
I walk home from the bus stop at about 5:40pm each day. It has been dark enough for me to carry a flashlight with me to alert cars traveling down my street that someone is sharing the road with them. Then, one day last week, the walk was suddenly relatively bright. There wasn't a slow transition, it was just noticeably brighter and has been ever since. It's almost felt like magic.
