Three Bits o' Gratitude for today:
1. The Generosity and Kindness of Others
WIthout which I would not be here today.
2. Cats Who Fall Asleep in My Lap
Who remind me that the best thing I can do sometimes is to just be still and allow others to sleep safely and deeply. (I had two cats in my lap twice today, just to make sure I recognized the truth of this.)
3. The Scoring System on QI
Some things are simply more entertaining as mysteries.
A Brief Note About Today's Image
I am new to the iPhone and the various iPhone apps. The iPhone as decent, portable, everyday camera intrigues me and many of the apps I've downloaded are those that either capture images or do post-processing work on images.
Many of the post-processing apps I've worked with thus far do little more than put a layer over the image that either shifts the colors or contrast or saturation of the original image. Others just overlay a semi-transparent graphic over the image. All of these make for amusing gimmicks but, as gimmicks, they seem to me to be something that would become visually tiresome very quickly.
Yesterday I was riding the bus to work. It was a cold, rainy day, gray and unwelcoming. I sat in my usual seat, rested the iPhone on my arm, and started taking pictures every few seconds, as the reflections of the lights caught my eye. As with most exercises, I knew most of the images weren't going to be worth keeping and that some might.
I used the Camera! app for this one, both for the photo capture and the post-processing. It is very different than anything I would have ended up with if I had been using my DSLR and Photoshop -- and I kinda like it.
