Three Bits of Gratitude 010313

Well, hello LJ. How have you been?
Yes, yes, I know: long time, no write. I had the same problem with songwriting years ago -- I simply didn't know what to write about. And rather than write boring blahblah nothingness, I decided to just remain quiet.
I'll credit this re-emergence to:
* Agent #5 getting back to me with a "No" response on The Book
* My interest in choosing a Word for the Year that reminds me that I want to be more upbeat and a source of good energy to people (rather than the lethargic/downer of a person I all-too-often am)
* And a friend who suggested that I start writing about gratitude as a way to stay positive
I've read other people doing this and I've admired it. So, here goes.
1. The Maggie Cat in My Lap
Maggie is the last of the original five cats. She's slowing down in her older age and prefers to spend her days and nights curled up in my lap, sleeping. (Preferably with one of my hands rubbing her belly and the other one scratching her head.) She keeps me grounded and reminds me what love is all about.
2. Having a Job to Go To
Maggie wished that my Christmas vacation had been much longer, and so do I. For almost two weeks I didn't think about werk accept in vague, abstract ways. There is a part of me that wishes my vacation could have been longer, too. However, those months when I was out of a job (seven years ago now) still do a very good job of haunting me. It may not be the greatest job and it certainly doesn't pay as well as it should, but I'm glad I have it nonetheless.
3. Bonn
We've been together for over twenty years now. Of course, we've had our good times and our rough patches, but we've stuck through it together. I want to remind myself to be more appreciative of her and the life we've built.
