A few Notes of Appreciation to pass along
Appreciation #1
Today is Bonn's birthday -- well, it would be her birthday if she were to be having any more birthdays. Which she isn't. This is completely by her own choice and falls neatly into the category of Lessons Hard Fought And Won in that this is something I should just nod along with and say a well practiced, "Yes, dear" to.
Instead of having a birthday weekend we somehow managed to agree to calling it an Appreciation Weekend. Friday night, for the first night of her Appreciation Weekend I made salsa and margarittas. Yesterday we went to the local farmer's market, ate lunch and bought lots of plants for the garden. Today, at her request, we went to the Bentonville Civil War Battlefield site, about an hour away or so.
Appreciation #2
A year ago an anonymous someone gave me the gift of a year's paid membership with LiveJournal. I wrote then that while I appreciated the gesture, I had no idea why someone would do such a thing for me and that it made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. (I didn't think I'd done anything to warrant such kindness)
Well, the year of the paid membership gift has ended. I still have no idea who gave me the year's paid membership, but if you're reading, I'd still like to thank you for the gift.
And About the Photo Above
This is one of many photos I took in the Twin Sisters' Garden last week. Much of what's in the garden have gone long past their peak and were in varying stages of dying. I've long found a certain elegance and beauty in the last steps in the cycle of a flower's life. There were many in this garden that held as much fascination for me as they did when they were in full bloom.
There are, naturally, more to come.
