Ani is doing pretty well, all in all. The open wound is still there on her leg, but she's getting around alright, thanks to some pain meds. The lump at her shoulder hasn't grown any and the wound isn't getting any worse. (We were told one side effect of the pain management med was that it can slow down the form of cancer she most likely has)
I still hear the clock ticking on my time with her. Each day is, quite literally, a gift to be with her.
More?
For the last two years I've tried to get enough honey to make a 5 gallon batch of Mead, and for the last two years that hasn't happened. This year I decided I'd try to get honeybees instead, and harvest my own honey. Due to a cold winter that killed off many hives, I'm finding that getting bees is a difficult thing to do at this time of the year. Turns out I should have ordered them back in November. Who knew?
I have the hardware to start a very basic hive and will, hopefully, get more hardware (or "woodenware") this weekend. After that, I've had to settle on getting bees along with already-started honeycombs in June. That will get the hive settled in for the long winter months and give them a good start for next year.
The latest Steampunk story is being annoying. The same day I flipped my bike with me on it, I realized that I needed to re-order the first four chapters -- throwing 90% of one of the chapters out in the process. I'm still working to reconnect all of the early story pieces as well as trying to work out some of the what-I-perceive-as-problems problems with the story. It's also made me consider reordering the first several chapters of Story #1 which would be even more of a challenge... but I think it needs it.
We spent Saturday with The Daughter and her fianance and their two dogs. It was a fun day, divided between a good used book store, a walk in the park, dinner at our favorite Vietnamese restaruant and strawberry shortcake at the park.
When we got home I was laying in bed, reading the comics. After the 3rd or 4th comic strip that mentioned it being the First Day of Spring I yelled out to Bonn in the other room that it was our anniversary. She's always been pretty bad at dates so I had chosen our wedding day, thinking at least she'd be able to remember the First Day of Spring.
Turns out you, nineteen years later, that you have to know when it's the First Day of Spring to remember it's our anniversary.
(For her part, Bonn didn't believe it was already the First Day of Spring...)
Happy living, everyone.
