I appear to have one purpose in life -- to provide for our cats.
Occasionally what they come to me to provide is food, but most often, it's warmth.
As I've mentioned in the past, my body doesn't retain heat very well. This leaves me feeling almost perpetually cold during the winter months and helps make anyone close enough to be snuggling up against me either warm or too hot.
Lately there's been fierce competition for my lap at night. The two long-hairs, Hader and Maggie, are the most likely to be found searching for my lap. (In fact, Maggie has been known to follow me around, waiting for me to sit down. Anywhere.) Ani has been cold enough lately to be willing to lay beside me with my hand rubbing her chest and stomach.
The other weekend Hader was depressed because he lost out on my lap for part of the afternoon. He decided to settle for the next best thing and lay up next to my hat.
Normally I hate baseball hats, but since I'm in the long, long months of perpetual bad hair days penance for cutting my hair, I'll wear one to get it out of my face. Besides, this hat isn't just any hat -- it's an offical Television Without Pity Amazing Race hat!
(The Race ends tonight, which means I'll be wearing it for the finale, tv geek that I am. The season has been pretty lack-luster, but we're still pulling for our favorite team)
