Day 29 → hopes and dreams for the next 365 days.

I suppose much of the next 365 has to do with the events of yesterday.

The doctor's appointment yesterday was, I suppose, my official You're Old; Start Acting Like It lecture by our physician's assistant. Listing Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Weight... Let's just say it was all very depressing and I would have much preferred spending my time celebrating Draw a Dinosaur Day like any sensible person would.

Instead, we met a very good friend, [livejournal.com profile] mud17, for lunch and she and Bonn did their best to make me feel better and change the subject -- both of which were very appreciated. (Thanks)

After running a full afternoon's worth of errands we finally made it home as it was getting dark. I took two new meds and went to sleep for the rest of the night -- with one break around 10pm when I went into my writing room, found a blank piece of paper and drew a quick dinosaur.

So, it looks as if the next 365 days will entail a fair amount of Good, Healthy Things, including food, exercise and a strenuous reduction in fatty foods, sloth in general and alcohol in specific.

Hardly sporting, I say.

To paraphrase [livejournal.com profile] mud17, "Changes that are imposed upon you are usually met with resistance." Or at least sulking.

Which I have done a fair amount of in the last 24 hours. (When I wasn't sleeping, that is)

Another Good Thing that [livejournal.com profile] mud17 did was to invoke the name of one of the people on my personal Wall o' Heroes, Alton Brown. She mentioned that AB recently did a show on how he lost 50 lbs -- and not by dieting, but by eating more sensibly. I've, um, watched it on my computer and I will admit it makes a lot of sense. I'll still be annoyed with the disiprin involved in having only one beer per week, but I'm willing to give it all a try.

I don't guarantee 50 lbs in the next year, but it would be nice.
