Your definition of fanfic is, of course, the generally accepted one. Mine was quite a stretch, but I thought it was an interesting extrapolation.
I think it's neat that Richard's fanfic may get produced into amateur radio plays. Somewhere on the Web, there is Star Trek fanfic that got produced into amateur Web videos. I think that's cool. Someday I might watch one.
